How We Pick and Check Plants
Every plant and list on PlantMatchup follows the same simple rules, so you know what you are getting.
Where the facts come from
Toxicity follows the ASPCA lists. If a plant is on the toxic list, or if we cannot confirm it is safe, we say it is toxic. Light, size and care ranges are checked against university extension services and botanic gardens. Sources are listed on each plant page.
How we pick plants for a list
Lists such as “best plants for low light” only include plants that keep growing well in that situation in a normal home, not plants that merely survive for a few weeks. Each pick has an honest downside next to it.
Ranges, not promises
How often you water depends on light, pot size and season. We give a range and a simple test (such as “the top two inches of soil are dry”), not a fixed schedule. No plant is unkillable, and we do not claim plants clean your air or fix your health.
Quizzes
Each quiz asks about your home and habits, one question per page, and matches you with a plant. Your answers stay in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
